This patron wanted to remember a day in the life of her and her best friend dog. When she gave me the photo I knew right away that it would be a study in sunlight vs. shade, warm colors vs. cool. Because, lately I'm trying to focus less on getting the shapes perfect and more on getting the colors (saturation, hue, and value) perfect. Fixing a hole in my art education, you might say. Time to get back to basics. I think this one came together pretty well. And I'm getting better all the time.
